Obituary of Margaret Hlavacek
Margaret Kathryn Hlavacek, 81, passed peacefully away on November 25, 2011 at St. Francis Hospital in Poughkeepsie, NY surrounded by her family. She was born on March 24, 1930 to Lena and Henry Zorn in Queens, NY. On August 20, 1950, Margaret married Anthony Hlavacek at Trinity Lutheran Church, Astoria, NY. They celebrated their 61st wedding anniversary in August. Anthony predeceased her this past October. Margaret is survived by her loving children, Caryl Morris and her husband Thomas of Poughkeepsie, Kathryn Hlavacek-Horvath and her husband Thomas of Stormville, Richard Hlavacek and his wife Paula of Poughkeepsie, Elizabeth Frye of Wappingers Falls. She is also survived by her grandchildren, Justin Frye and his wife Gina, Joseph Horvath, Krista Horvath, Melanie Frye, Brittney Frye, Andrew Morris and Cathryn Morris. She is also survived by her great-grandchildren: Nytalya, Aidyn and Dominic, her brother Ernest Zorn and his wife Lois. She was predeceased by her sister Elizabeth Plangeman, brothers Henry Zorn and Phillip Zorn. She was employed for many years by the Wappingers Central School District as a secretary. She served as the CSEA secretary during part of that time. Margaret was active at St. JohnâÂÂs Evangelical Lutheran Church where she served on the altar guild, flower committee and as journal editor for many years. Pastor Daniel Ward of St. JohnâÂÂs Evangelical Lutheran Church will hold a private service at the familyâÂÂs request. MargaretâÂÂs internment will be at the Fishkill Rural Cemetery. Memorial Donations can be made to St. JohnâÂÂs Lutheran Church, 55 Wilber Blvd., Poughkeepsie, NY 12603. The family would like to thank the doctors, nurses and staff of St. Francisâ Cooke 6th floor for their care and kindness they extended Margaret and her family.
