Obituary of Patrick Kennedy

Patrick J. Kennedy, 78, of the City of Poughkeepsie, passed away on Sunday, July 12, 2009 at Vassar Brothers Medical Center. He came to this area from Flatbush, Brooklyn, NY when, he was 28 years old. He was a salesman for Ketcham Motors and also worked for Sofco and Hudson Plaza Wine & Spirits. He was a member of the Titans Bowling League at Mardi Bob. He loved sports and played basketball at Holy Cross High School. He loved music and loved to sing. He was an excellent pool player and bowler. Born in Brooklyn on June 15, 1931, he was the son of Angus and Margaret Riley Kennedy. He attended Holy Cross and Holy Trinity School in Brooklyn, NY. on Nov. 21, 1993 at the Arlingon Reformed Church, he married Frances H. Owens. Mrs. Kennedy survives at home. He was the loving and devoted husband of Fran Williams and will be missed by her sons Tom and Gary Williams. He was the cherished father of Patrick, Kevin, Angus, Karen, Michael and his wife, Cathy. Adored grandfather of Shannon, Amy, Kerry, Katie, Kimmy, Mikey, Patrick, Kyra, and Natalie and great-granddaughter, Clara. Survived by his mother, Margaret and his brothers, Tom and Angus Kennedy. Predeceased by his sister, Rose and her husband, Charlie Ryan. Pat will be missed by many nieces, nephews, friends and all who loved him. Calling hours will be held on Friday, July 17, 2009 from 6 to 9 pm at the Timothy P. Doyle Funeral Home, Inc., 371 Hooker Ave., Poughkeepsie, NY. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, July 18, at 10:30 a.m. at the funeral home. Burial will follow at Poughkeepsie Rural Cemetery, South Ave., Poughkeepsie. Memorial donations may be made to the American Heart Association, 301 Manchester Road, Poughkeepsie,
