Obituary of Carla Klein

Carla Klein, 79, a resident of Hopewell Junction for 35 years, formerly of Plainview, LI, died on Thursday, December 18, 2008, at Vassar Brothers Medical Center. She was a Teacher in New York Schools and Substitute Teacher after her retirement at John Jay High School; received her Degree in Education from Hunter College; involved with the Center for Lifetime Study at Marist College and an avid reader, loved to travel and play tennis. She was a fabulous mother and loved by all that knew her. Born May 10, 1929, in Ractig, Germany, she was the daughter of Ferdi and Margaret Wendel Thai. On June 15, 1951, in Carmel, NY she married Robert C. Klein, who survives at home. Survivors include son and daughterin-law, Dr. Michael Allen and Kim Klein of York, PA; son and close friend, David Scott Klein and Nilsa of Manhattan, NY; grandchildren, Joshua, Andrew and Alyssa Klein; several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her sister, Elizabeth Kahn. Memorial donations may be made to The American Heart Association, 301 Manchester Rd., Ste. 105, Poughkeepsie, NY 12603. There are no calling hours. There will be a celebration of Carla's life in the Spring, 2009. Burial will be in the Poughkeepsie Rural Cemetery, South Ave., Poughkeepsie, NY.
