Obituary of Nellie Lawless
Nellie Lawless, 86, passed away peacefully on October 23, 2011 at St. Francis Hospital. She was born on March 19, 1925 in Hartford, Ct. to Charles Beers and Loretta Shaw. She spent her early years at an orphanage along with her sister Emma Beers Casimir. Nellie married William James Lawless on March 28, 1945 in Poughkeepsie, NY where they raised a family. During World War II, Nellie worked at a defense plant making rubber boots for the Army and Navy. She worked as a supervisor for Kem Cards in Poughkeepsie for 30 years from where she retired in 1990. Nellie loved cooking, to the benefit of all her friends and family; hiking, especially in her later years with her beloved cousin William Parker; and dancing. She was predeceased by her husband William Lawless; daughter Patricia Lawless Pantaleo; sister Emma Casimir; brother Ernest Burns, cousin William Parker, three half sisters and three half brothers. Nellie is survived by her brother in law Joseph A. Casimir of Chesapeake, Virginia; niece Elaine Spilbor and husband Gary of Chesapeake, Virginia; nephew Joseph N. Casimir and wife June of Clackamas , Oregon; three half sisters and one half brother. A memorial service will be held on Saturday Oct. 29th at 10:00 AM at the Timothy Doyle Funeral Home, 371 Hooker Avenue, Poughkeepsie, NY. Followed by interment at St. Peters Cemetery.
