Obituary of Henry Luty

Henry J. Luty, age 88, of Hyde Park died Sunday, March 27, 2011 at St. Francis Hospital, Poughkeepsie. Mr. Luty was born January 31, 1923 in Poughkeepsie, NY he was the son of the late Wincenty and the late Sophie Luty. On October 3, 1948 at St. Mary’s Church Poughkeepsie he married Elizabeth Ceroni, she predeceased him in 1988. He served in the United States Army in the Medical Corp Stationed in England during WWII. Henry was a graduate of Poughkeepsie High School class of 1941 and also attended Ryder University. He was employed as a Right away agent for the NYS Department of Transportation and a local resident all his life. Henry was a past President of the Polish American Citizen Club. Henry loved to play golf; he was also a collector of model cars, coins, pins and loved to travel. He was a member of the Polish Golf League and the American Legion Lafayette Post. He is survived by his son and daughter in-law Hank and Nancy Luty of Poughkeepsie New York, daughter, Patricia Stone of Corpus Christi Texas, Sister Evelyn McIlravy of Schenectady New York and his companion Gail Dorney. Henry is also survived by his grandchildren Henry Abramson and his wife Cariann of Texas, Jarrod Luty of Purchase New York and his two great grandchildren Elizabeth and Henry Abramson. Henry was predeceased by his daughter in 2005, Cathy Jean Luty and his brothers and sisters, Steve Luty, Ted Luty, Vincent Luty, Stella Brophy, Mary Luty and Loretta Colling. Calling hours will be Thursday from 4pm to 8pm at Timothy P. Doyle Funeral Home Inc., 371 Hooker Ave., Poughkeepsie, NY. The funeral will be Friday at 10:00 at Our Lady of the Rosary Church St. Peters Parish, 185 Hudson Drive, Poughkeepsie where a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated by Father James A. Garisto.
