Obituary of Sophie Matarazzo

Sophie L. Matarazzo, age 94, died Thursday, February 17, 2011 at The Baptist Home in Rhinebeck, NY. She was a 35 year local resident of LaGrange and previously of Mt. Vernon, NY. Ms. Matarazzo was born January 26, 1917 in Danbury, CT, the daughter of the late Concetto and the late Concetta (Grosso) Matarazzo. She retired from the NY Telephone Company where she worked in Upper Management in 1975. She loved to sew and decorate. She is survived by her niece, Denise Smiarowski of Poughkeepsie, NY, her nephews Michael Rogers of FL and Carmine D'Angelo of New Rochelle, NY. Also surviving are 6 grand-nieces, 1 grand-nephew, 5 great-grand nieces and 1 great-grand nephew. She was predeceased by her parents, her brother Mario Matarazzo and sister Concetta D'Angelo. Calling hours will be held at the Timothy P. Doyle Funeral Home, 371 Hooker Ave., Poughkeepsie, NY on Monday February 21, 2011 from 4pm to 7pm. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Tuesday February 22, 2011 at 9:45am at Holy Trinity Church. Burial will follow in St. Raymond's Cemetery, Bronx, NY.
