Obituary of Ed McNeil

Ed L. McNeil, Sr., age 71, of Poughkeepsie, New York died Monday, April 11, 2011 at Vassar Brothers Medical Center, Poughkeepsie. Ed was born October 3, 1939 in Columbus, OH the son of the late Paul and the late Twila (Beams) McNeil. Ed was a Local Resident since 1970. He married Angela "Gizzi" Licato August 17, 1986 in Brookville PA. He served in the United States Army, was employed by the United States Post Office District Office in Newburgh New York. Ed also worked part time as a driver for Morgan's Florist in Poughkeepsie. Ed was a member of the Italian Center, Fireman's Exempt, where he was serving as a Trustee, Poughkeepsie ELKS BPOE 275 and the American Legion. Ed was an avid fisherman and loved to hunt. He is survived by his wife: Angela "Gizzi"(Licato) McNeil, son and daughter in-law, Ed L. And Tina McNeil of Hudson, NY; daughter and son in-law, Lisa and Gregg DeFraia of Hyde Park, NY; son: Frank Gizzi of Poughkeepsie, NY, brother and sister in-law, Dick And Carol McNeil of Ohio, Grandchildren; Amber, Maria, and Laura DeFraia, Adam and Sarah Gizzi and Daniel McNeil. Brother in-law; Steve Licato and his wife Elaine, Joseph Licato and Jimmy Licato. Ed was predeceased by two brothers Tom and Lee McNeil. Calling hours will be Thursday from 4pm to 8pm at Timothy P. Doyle Funeral Home Inc., 371 Hooker Ave., Poughkeepsie, NY. The funeral will be Friday at 11:30 at Holy Trinity Church, 775 Main Street, Poughkeepsie where a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated. Burial will be in St. Peters Cemetery, Poughkeepsie.
