Obituary of Kathryn Moran
Kathryn H. Moran, 18 Beechwood Park, in Poughkeepsie, NY died at home on Sunday, May 16. She was 72 years old and was born in the Hudson Valley and lived there for 70 years . She was the daughter of Hugh P. Healy and Rose Granetz Healy. She was also sister to the late Hugh G. Healy and David M. Healy. She grew up on her family's farm, Fairview Farms, in Columbia County. She graduated from the College of Saint Rose in Albany, NY with honors. On June 25 1960 she married William L. Moran Sr. (of St. John, New Brunswick and Hudson, NY) who survives her. She is also survived by her daughter Ursula Healy Moran of NY, NY and her son William L. Moran Jr. of Montclair NJ, her daughter-in-law, Cathy Carr and her beloved grandson, Nicholas Albert Moran. Kathryn was educated as a teacher of German , Latin, Greek and Russian. She never lost her love of knowledge. Her passions were her family, her many cats especially George, her church, and the Rural and Migrant ministry. She had a strong sense of social justice and for many years a tireless volunteer for the Rural and Migrant ministry which serves migrant farm workers in NY state. A memorial service for Kathryn will take place on July 10th at 11AM at Christ Episcopal Church in Poughkeepsie. In lieu of flowers the family requests that donations in Kathryn's name can be made to the Rural and Migrant ministry http://www.ruralmigrantministr y.org/ or to Christ Church in Poughkeepsie http://christchurchpok.org/. Arrangements are under the direction of the Timothy P. Doyle Funeral Home, Inc.
