Obituary of Arthur Pierson

Arthur M. Pierson, age 83, of, Poughkeepsie died Thursday, February 10, 2011 at Vassar Brothers Medical Center, Poughkeepsie. Mr. Pierson was born August 29, 1927 in New York City the son of the late Jack and the late Mina Pierson. He served in the United States Navy making the rank of Seaman Second Class. Arthur was a local resident for the past 14 years, previously from Vermont and the Bronx. He worked for the New York City Board of Education and while working received his Doctorates Degree in sociology. He was involved in many civic organizations. Arthur retired from New York Board Of Education as a Social Worker in 1993. He is survived by his daughter Joan Lannon of Poughkeepsie NY and Danbury CT., his brother Howard Pierson of Massachusetts, grandchildren, Amber, Jonathon and Sean Lannon and Mayela and Dulce Castellanos. He is also survived by a Niece Lynda Stein and Robert Pierson. Calling hours will be Sunday from 3pm to 7pm at Timothy P. Doyle Funeral Home Inc., 371 Hooker Ave., Poughkeepsie, NY. A graveside service will be held at the Poughkeepsie Rural Cemetery, 342 South Ave., Poughkeepsie on Monday February 14th at 11am.
