Obituary of Kathryn Porter
Kathryn E. Porter, 72 of the town of Poughkeepsie died Sunday, March 27, 2011 at home.
Kathryn worked as a cashier at Vassar College, retiring in 2007. A lifelong resident, she was the daughter of the late Irving and Gladys (Kennedy) Stickle, born in Poughkeepsie on June 2, 1938. She married Ralph F. Porter, Jr. in Beacon, NY in 1958. Her husband predeceased her in 1995.
She was a member of D.A.R. (Daughters of the American Revolution). She was an avid Bingo player and Bingo Inspector and Yankee Fan. She enjoyed doing crossword puzzles.
Kathryn is survived by her sons Michael and Pamela of Poughkeepsie, Mark of Queens, NY and Ralph K. Porter of Brooklyn, NY. She was predeceased by her son Scott Porter. She is also survived by her grandchildren Behn and Ian and several nieces and nephews. In addition, she is survived by her sisters Beverly Traver of Poughkeepsie, Donna (Ernie) Lindmark of Poughkeepsie and Sandy Miller of FL. A brother Robert (Candy) Stickle also survive in Poughkeepsie. She was predeceased by her sister Gail Stickle and brothers Irving Stickle, Jr., and Roger Stickle.
Calling hours will be held on Wednesday, March 30, 2011 from 2:00-4:00pm and 7:00-9:00pm at the Timothy P. Doyle Funeral Home, 371 Hooker Ave., Poughkeepsie, NY. A Funeral Service will be held Thursday, March 31, 2011 at 10:00am in the funeral home. Burial will follow at Union Cemetery in Hyde Park, NY.
