Obituary of Blanche Reese
Blanche J. Reese, a long-time resident of Poughkeepsie NY, passed on Saturday, January 22, 2011 at Vassar Brothers Medical Center after a short illness.
Blanche was born August 18, 1929 in Tivoli, NY the daughter of the late Nicholas and the late Lillian (Handle) Reese.
She attended St. Joseph's School for the Deaf in the Bronx and worked for 31 years at Sal Abbate's Handbags Inc. on Academy Street in Poughkeepsie.
Blanche is survived by her beloved twin sister Florence Reese and beloved niece, Lisa Reese-Reilly, both with whom she lived. She is also survived by a brother, Joseph Reese, her sisters, Rose Palermo, Annie Coons and many other nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by her parents, twelve brothers and sisters and her nephew in-law, Michael Reilly.
Blanche was a member of the Mid-Hudson Valley Club of the Deaf and the Hudson Valley Catholic Deaf Center for many years.
Blanche is remembered as having a great sense of humor. She loved to Volunteer and cook for the Deaf Club and to fix things around the house. She loved collecting pandas and pig knick-knacks. She also had a special love for her dog, Curly. Blanche will be greatly missed by those who knew and loved her.
Calling hours will be Thursday from 2pm to 4pm and 6pm to 8pm at Timothy P. Doyle Funeral Home Inc., 371 Hooker Ave., Poughkeepsie, NY.
The funeral will be held Friday 10:00am at Holy Trinity Church, 775 Main Street, Poughkeepsie NY, where a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated. Burial will be in St. Denis Cemetery, Hopewell Jct.
