Obituary of Lucille Rogers

Lucille G. Rogers, 83, a 27 year resident of Poughkeepsie formerly of Yorktown and Bronx, died Wednesday, Aug. 26, 2009. Mrs. Rogers was an Admissions Administrator for Our Lady of Mercy Hospital in the Bronx, retiring in 1974. She loved her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Born Feb. 28, 1926 in the Bronx, she was the daughter of Concetto and Concetta Grosso Matarazzo. She attended schools in the Bronx and Cathleen Gibbs Secretary School. In 1948, in the Bronx, she married Joseph A. Rogers. Mr. Rogers died November 1963. Survivors include her daughter and son-in-law, Denise and Robert Smiarowski of Lagrange; her son, Michael J. Rogers of Water Haven, FL; grandchildren, Dawn Houle, Laurie Jago, Brooke Rogers and Joseph Rogers; great-grandchildren, Sienna Cody, Natalie Houle, CJ Houle and Faith DiLorenzo; and her sister, Sophie Matarazzo. She was predeceased by a brother and a sister, Mario Matarazzo and Concetta DeAngelo. Calling hours will be 4-8 p.m,. Friday, Aug. 28, at Timothy P. Doyle Funeral Home Inc., 371 Hooker Ave., Poughkeepsie. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 8 a.m., Saturday, Aug. 29, at Blessed Katari Church.
