Obituary of David Seifts

David A Seifts, age 50, of Poughkeepsie died Monday, January 17, 2011 at Vassar Brothers Medical Center, Poughkeepsie. He had been a lifetime resident of Poughkeepsie, NY. Mr. Seifts was born July 9, 1960 in Poughkeepsie, the son of Edward I. and Loretta A. (Bottini) Seifts. His parents survive at home in Poughkeepsie. He was employed by City Of Poughkeepsie as a Captain of the City of Poughkeepsie Fire Department. He was a member of the Local 596 International Firefighter Union. Mr. Seifts loved to travel to Cape Cod. He collected Fire Trucks and had a hobby for anything antique in the fire service. He was a graduate of Our Lady of Lourdes High School and attended Dutchess Community College. He married Lisa A.Svarplaitis, who survives him at home. In addition to his wife and parents he is survived by his son Ryan A. Seifts at home, his brother Edward J. Seifts of NC, and his brother Mark E. Seifts (Tina) of SC, his sister Sharon A. Moskiewicz of Poughkeepsie and several nieces and nephews. Calling hours will be held on Friday, January 21, 2011 from 5:00 – 7:00pm at the Timothy P. Doyle Funeral Home, 371 Hooker Ave., Poughkeepsie, NY 12603. A Memorial Service will be held at 7:00pm following calling hours in the funeral home. Burial will take place in the spring at the South Dover Rural Cemetery in Wingdale, NY. Memorial donations may be made to the American Cancer Society or Hospice Foundation.
