Obituary of Lillian Spector
Lillian Spector, 84, of Wappingers Falls, died July 29, 2008 at home. She had been a hat model in New York City. She also worked at the Pentagon in Washington, DC from 1943-1945 and at Greer Hydraulics from 1945-1953. She then worked for Harry D. Kienig & Co. Imports and Exports in East Rockaway, NY until her retirement at age 70. She was a member of the Friends Club at the Jewish Community Center, Poughkeepsie and Young at Heart at the Fishkill Baptist Church. She enjoyed playing cards, reading, traveling, shopping, fashion, friends and family. She had a cheerful disposition; always the optimist and had a a great sense of humor. She was generous; a strong, independent woman and a survivor. Born May 12, 1924 in Brooklyn, NY, she was the daughter of Max and Minnie Liebman Frohman. On Dec. 26, 1948 in Brooklyn, she married Leonard Spector. He predeceased her in 1954. Survivors include her daughter, Cathy Spector, Wappingers Falls; many nieces, nephews, grandnieces and grandnephews. She was predeceased by her son, Randy Spector in 1954 and her sister, Beatrice Grossman in 2002. Visitation will be held Saturday, August 2 at Timothy P. Doyle Funeral Home, Inc., 371 Hooker Ave., Poughkeepsie, from 9-10am. Funeral services will immediately follow at 10am in the funeral home, with Rev. Robert Eckler officiating. Burial will be in Fishkill Rural Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Creekside Ministries, 23 Sandi Drive, Poughkeepsie, NY 12601
