Obituary of Patricia Szabo

Patricia H. Szabo, age 76, of Pleasant Valley entered into rest Wednesday, January 5, 2011 at Vassar Brothers Medical Center, Poughkeepsie, one day following her 76th birthday. She was surrounded by her family and loved ones. Mrs. Szabo was born January 4, 1935 in Poughkeepsie, NY the daughter of the late Thomas and the late Virginia (Johnston) Owens. In January of 1955 she married Eugene Szabo in Hyde Park at the Hyde Park Methodist Parsonnage, he predeceased her in April of 2005. Pat was a life long resident of Poughkeepsie; she was a devoted mother, grandmother, aunt and friend. She courageously endured her illness since this past Thanksgiving. Pat attended the United Methodist Church of Pleasant Valley; Pat was a graduate of Arlington High School the Class of 1952 and she was a Drum Majorette for the Arlington High School Marching Band through out her four years in high school. She was a Teachers assistant for many years at Dutchess County BOCES, she truly enjoyed working with young people and from working at BOCES she created many life long friendships. After Pat retired from BOCES, her love of people lead her to waitress at the Acropolis Diner for many years. She is survived by her daughter and son In-law, Linda and Rick Studler of Pleasant Valley, NY; grandson and his wife, Justin and Shara Studler of NC, sister: Frances Williams of Chatham, NY, nephews Thomas and Gary Williams and long time friend and companion, Jay Espie of Rhinebeck, NY. Pat was predeceased by her son Eugene John Szabo, granddaughter Sarah Studler and her sister Doris Robinson. Calling hours will be Friday January 7, 2011 from 6pm to 9pm at Timothy P. Doyle Funeral Home Inc., 371 Hooker Ave., Poughkeepsie, NY. The funeral will be Saturday at 11:00 the Funeral Home. Burial will be Private and at the convenience of the family.
