Obituary of Nicholas Tarantino
Nicholas J. Tarantino, age 62, Town of Poughkeepsie died Wednesday, February 23, 2011 at Vassar Brothers Medical Center.
A lifelong resident, Mr. Tarantino was born December 20, 1948 in Poughkeepsie, NY, the son of the late Nicholas J. and the late Jeanette (Imperati) Tarantino. Nicholas was raised by his grandparents, Dominic and Helen Imperati since he was 6 months old. He married Robin A. Robinson September 17, 2005 at the First Lutheran Church in Poughkeepsie.
He was employed by Arlington School District as a Bus Driver, as well as the Astor Home and he worked at the Dutchess County Office of the Aging as director of the Senior Program in Pleasant Valley, NY.
He served in the U.S. Army 101st Airborne in Germany and Vietnam. He was a member of the American Legion #1302, was a past member of the Moose Lodge in Hyde Park, and a member of the Thunder Road Cruisers and Freedom Wheels Motorcycle Club. He enjoyed car racing and stock cars, fishing, hunting and anything outdoors.
He is survived by his wife Robin, who when Nick met, said he was too fat, too old and ugly, and they have been together ever since. In addition to his wife he is survived by his sons John and Paul Rozzio of Florida, and Nicholas J. Tarantino, II of N. Carolina. His daughters Dawn Farago of Richmond, VA and Misty Thornlee Ferguson of Hyde Park, NY. His goddaughter Carmeli Imperati of Hyde Park, NY and his step-children Jason and Bridget Wyantt of Rhinebeck, Steven Robinson of Wappingers, Edward Taylor, Jr. of Poughkeepsie, Mark and Connie Santiammo of Kingston, NY. Also surviving are his brothers and sisters, Jeanette OâÂÂDell of Stone Ridge, NY, Diane Hotaling of Poughkeepsie, Dominic Tarantino of Eureka, CA, Vicky Nodine of Delhi, NY, Joe Nodine of South Cartright, NY and George Nodine of Oneonta, NY, and 33 grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
Calling hours will be held at the Timothy P. Doyle Funeral Home, 371 Hooker Avenue, Poughkeepsie, NY on Sunday, February 27, 2011 from 2:00-4:00pm and 7:00-9:00pm. At 8pm the American Legion Post 1302 will be holding services. The funeral service will be held on Monday, February 28, 2011 at 11:00am in the funeral home. Burial will be at the convenience of the family.
