Obituary of James Hoffnagle

James P. Hoffnagle, age 86, of the Town of Poughkeepsie died Friday, January 20, 2012 at Vassar Brothers Medical Center. James was born August 17, 1925 in New York, NY the son of the late Harry and the late Frances (White) Hoffnagle. On April 1, 1950 in High Falls New York James married Anita J. Abrahamsen, she predeceased him March of 1991. He served in the Navy from 1943 to 1946 during World War II. James was a local resident since 1955, previously from Westport NY. James was a member of the Croft Corners Fire Department from 1958 till 1966, during that time he served as the treasurer of the Engine Company, and he was a member of the Poughkeepsie United Methodist Church. He also was a member of the Sons of Norway. James's family was most important to him and he loved to help others. He was employed by IBM Poughkeepsie as an Accountant, retiring in 1989. He is survived by ;Daughter And Son In-law, Adele And Anthony Galioto of Middlesex, NJ; Daughter And Son In-law, Diane And Jeffrey Coggin of Pulaski, TN; Daughter And Son In-law, Carol And Richard Cates of Bristow, VA; Grandchildren Erica Galioto, Andrea Kotelsky and her husband Joseph, Kristin Coggin, Kevin Coggin, Nicole Cates, Rachel Cates and step Grandson Anthony Galioto. He is also survived by a Great Grandson Noah Kotelsky and a brother Harry Hoffnagle. James was predeceased by two Brothers John and Phillip. Calling hours will be Friday January 27, 2012 from 4pm to 8pm at Timothy P. Doyle Funeral Home Inc., 371 Hooker Ave., Poughkeepsie, NY. The funeral service will 10am Saturday at the Funeral Home and Burial will be in Benton Bar Cemetery, High Falls New York.
