Mr. Royal was my basketball coach for the St. Mary's Poughkeepsie 8th grade CYO team --- he pushed us hard to get better every day. He taught tough but valuable lessons about competing and doing your best. He was always generous with our team, taking us out for pizza (Alloy's was a favorite!) after games and practices. He will be missed and all the best to Tracy, Craig and the Royal family! Mike Kaley Austin, TX

I am very sorry for your loss. Although I did not know Rodney, I know how it feels to lose someone you love. May you find comfort in the love of family and friends and may it give you hope as you reflect on these promises from the Bible. John 5:28,29; Revelation 21:4; Psalms 37:11,29

Mrs. Royal, Craig & Tracy, My husband, Sam Campilii, worked with Rodney many years at the IBM Country Club. Sam died 3 years ago. Were he alive today, he would be at Rodneys's wake & funeral, sharing stories of their work years at the Club. So many fond memories. Had I known that Rodney's birthday was the day before mine, I'd have split a cupcake with him. My condolences, (Mrs.) Lorraine M. Campilii

HE WILL BE MISSED BY MANY,WHOSE HEART HE HAS TOUCHED. HE LOVED HIS SPORTS,AND HELPING THE YOUNG PEOPLE. I HAVE KNOWN RODNEY, FOR 60 YEARS. I MET HIM WHEN HE WAS AT CATHERINE STREET CENTER,AND I BELONGED TO LINCLON CENTER. OUR LIVES CROSSED WHILE WE BOTH WERE IN THE NAVY. WHEN WE ALWAYS SAW ONE AN OTHER,A HAND SHAKE AND A HUG. THATS HOW MUCH WE THOUGHT OF ONE ANOTHER. SO MAY GOD WATCH OVER HIM

Coach Royal, May you rest in peace. I appreciate you getting me started in the City of Poughkeepsie football program, I was one of the lucky ones that played for you on a couple of those popwarner Giant championship teams. Its one memory I will never forget, you will always be remembered.

My father Ned worked closely with Rod in basketball. We as a family always liked playing ROd's team . Rod also coached a short time at St. Mary's in Wappingers. The IBM sports banquets were the best of an era gone by. top sports stars came and spoke at Poughkeepsie . Rod also coached many years at the old Lincoln Center in Poughkeepsie. the sports palace was across from Stitzel filed. Lincoln Center was the original site of Our Lady of Lourdes basketball and many city of Poughkeepsie sporting events. it was lost to fire many years ago. Rod was part of history which should never be forgotten. My old coach, bob travis always liked rod's desire and his calm demeanor. RIP rod!!!!!!!!!
