Obituary of Constance A. Apenteng
Constance A. Apenteng, 66, a resident of Poughkeepsie, N.Y., passed away peacefully on Thursday February 2, 2012, surrounded by her family. Born in Ghana on May 17th 1945, she was the daughter of the late Michael Anyane-Yeboa and the late Comfort A. Boatemaa. Constance lived most of her life in Ghana and Togo. After high school, she received her certification to teach from St Francis Teachers College in Ghana and taught home economics for several years. She also obtained a masters degree in governance and leadership in 2006 at Ghana Institute of Management and Public Administration. She was a passionate gardener, an excellent cook and did evangelical work in every country she lived in. She met her husband George during her college years and they were married four years later in Pittsburg, PA, where he was working on his doctorate.
Constance was a loving wife, sister, mother, and grandmother. She is survived by her husband Dr George Apenteng, children Yaw Apenteng, MD, Panyin Apenteng, MBA, Kakra Baiden, MBA, Tawia Apenteng, MD, son-in-law Edward Baiden, MBA and daughter-in-law Tanae Apenteng, four grand children, and eight siblings. The Family would like to extend their sincere gratitude to the staff at Vassar Brothers' Medical Center, and St. Francis Hospital. Special thanks to Vassar Brothers' South Circle 5 and Dyson Center nurses and staff, the doctors and staff at Hudson Valley Hematology Oncology especially Dr Reyes, Dr Barrick at OADC, and the many well wishers and friends. A funeral service will be at 10AM on Saturday February 11, 2012 at Vassar College Chapel, followed by a burial at Poughkeepsie Rural Cemetery.
