Obituary of Dianne Ohnemus-Blasi

Dianne J. Ohnemus-Blasi, 55, a loving Daughter, Sister, and Aunt passed away on February 11, 2012, at Westchester Medical Center surrounded by her family. She was a lifelong resident of Poughkeepsie and was born here on August 10, 1956. Dianne graduated from Holy Trinity Grammar School and went on to graduate from Our Lady of Lourdes High School in 1974. Dianne then attended Robert Powers Modeling School of Manhattan and pursued a modeling career in New York City. She later graduated from Richard the First Beauty School of Poughkeepsie where she learned cosmetology. She worked for many years as a hair stylist and owned her own business for much of that time. Most recently Dianne worked for Greyhouse Publishing Co. Dianne was an animal lover who appreciated and loved all of God's creatures. She was an avid bird watcher and enjoyed sharing her finds with everyone around her. Dianne loved to share her joys with the world. What Dianne enjoyed most was spending time with her family, especially the children. Aunt Dianne was really "Auntie Mame" and she loved educating and sharing the world with all of her nieces and nephews. She loved caring for them and nurturing all of their interests and hobbies. She was a long-time volunteer at Our Lady of Mount Carmel School in the classrooms, cafeteria, and school yard as well as chaperoning many class trips. Dianne was predeceased by her father, David J. Ohnemus Sr. in September 2010. Her Mother Margaret survives at home. Other survivors include her sisters, Dorothy, Emma, and Jeanne and brother David Jr., all of Dutchess County. She is also survived by her niece Erika, nephews David III and Henry, to whom she was also a devoted Godmother, and her great-nephew Julian and great-niece Sophia. Calling hours will be held Wednesday, February 15, 2012 from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. at Timothy Doyle Funeral Home, 371 Hooker Avenue, Poughkeepsie. A mass of Christian Burial will be held on Thursday, February 16, 2012 at 10 a.m. at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church in Poughkeepsie.
