Obituary of Patrick McPherson

Patrick George McPherson born August 15, 1926 in the Bronx, New York passed away on February 22nd at Vassar Brothers Medical Center in Poughkeepsie, New York. He was the son of Patrick John McPherson and Beatrice Reickle McPherson. He served in the United States Navy during World War II on the USS Corbesier from 1943 until he was honorably discharged in 1947. He married Josephine Purcell on August 27, 1949 at St. Valentine's Church in the Bronx, New York. Josephine predeceased him in 1996. He was also predeceased by his oldest son, Gerald on February 9th, 2011. He is survived by his companion Evva Burlingame, his son Michael McPherson, his daughters and sons in law, Theresa and John Brown, Patricia and Keith Longbard, Nancy Walker and Marc Platt, Elizabeth and Robert Gardner. He is also survived by 13 grandchildren: Sean, Bryan, Megan, Brianne, Erin and Darcy McPherson, Philip Brown, Marcella Longbard Bryne, David Longbard, Catherine and Regina Walker and Alexander and Ian Gardner. Patrick retired as a Mechanical Inspector from the New York State Office of General Services in 1990. He was an active member of the Knights of Columbus, Council 304, Poughkeepsie, New York, the Loyal Order of Moose, Lodge No. 904, Hyde Park, New York, and Tri-Town Senior Center in Poughkeepsie, New York. He was an avid ham radio operator, fisherman, camper and pinochle player. Donations can be made in his memory to the Loyal Order of Moose, Lodge No. 904, Hyde Park, New York or the American Heart Association. Calling hours will be held from 4:00pm to 7:00pm Friday, February 24 at Timothy P. Doyle Funeral Home.
