Obituary of Bernard Neely

Bernard A. Neely, 57, passed away March 6, 2012 at Vassar hospital. A previous resident of Buffalo , NY he had resided in the Hudson Valley since 1986. He was born December 16, 1954 in Coxsackie , NY , the son of Edward Winters and I. Doris Neely. On August 27, 1983 , Bernard married Theresa V. Othebear in Buffalo , NY . Bernard worked as a Safety & Construction Inspector for NYSDOT, 4 Burnet Blvd., Poughkeepsie. Bernard was the Past Exalted Ruler of Red Hook/Rhinebeck Elks Lodge #2022; 1st lieutenant of the Stanford Rescue Squad; and member of Aircraft Owner Pilots Assoc. He was a member of Beulah Baptist Church in Wappingers Falls , NY , avid motorcycle rider and a gifted bassist and musician. Bernard is survived by his sons Bernard A. Neely, Jr. of Fort Benning, GA, Curtis D. Neely of Olean, NY and Richard J. Neely of Tivoli, NY; daughter Kiama C. Neely of Buffalo, NY; sisters Ari Moore; Arlene, Darlene & Celena Willis all of Buffalo, NY; former spouse Wanda Jeanette Johnson of Buffalo, NY; Uncle Edmund and Aunt Theresa Malcolm; 21 grandchildren and several nieces, nephews, & cousins. Bernard was predeceased by Nataka Louise & Doris Fay Neely. Visitation will be held on Saturday, March 10, 2012 at Beulah Baptist Church, 1494 Route 9D, Wappingers Falls, NY; right next door to Dutchess Stadium; from 10:00am-11:00am.
