Obituary of James Robinson
James C. Robinson, age 87, of Poughkeepsie, died Friday, April 6, 2012 at The Pines of Poughkeepsie. James was born January 1, 1925 in Stoneridge, NY. He is the son of the late James G. and the late Jane Osterhoudt Robinson. He married Margaret E. Oakley on May 4, 1952 at St. Paul's Episcopal in Poughkeepsie, she survives at home.
James was a local resident for over 62 years, and he previously was from Stoneridge.
He served in the United States Army during World War II from 1943 to 1946. He held the rank of Staff Sergeant and served in New Guinea, the South Pacific, the Philippines and Luzon Japan. During his service to our country he received the Bronze Star And Two Purple Hearts.
He was a lithographer at Western Printing for 30 years retiring in 1982. After his retirement, James worked at the Red Oaks Mills Hardware Store. he loved to work and be outdoors, but he especially loved his family.
He is survived by his wife: Margaret E. Robinson of Poughkeepsie ; daughter and son In-law, Donna And Paul Zajkowski of Poughkeepsie, NY; son and daughter In-law, Doug And Karen Robinson of Troutman, NC; grandchildren, Matthew Douglas, Olivia Jane And Rachel Kate; sister In Law, Elizabeth Oakley of Poughkeepsie, NY; sister In Law, Betty Robinson of Bethlehem, PA; Aunt, Marion Robinson of FL; niece, Kimberly Robinson of Bethlehem, PA. and several cousins.
The family would like to thank Doctor Reyes and his compassionate staff for the care that was given to Jim.
In July of 2008, James was predeceased by his brother William Robinson.
Calling hours will be Tuesday, April 10 from 4pm to 8pm at Timothy P. Doyle Funeral Home Inc., 371 Hooker Ave., Poughkeepsie, NY. The funeral will be held 10:00 am on Wednesday, April 11, 2012 at St. Paul's Episcopal Church, Mansion Street, Poughkeepsie, NY. Burial will be in Poughkeepsie Rural Cemetery.
