Obituary of Teresa Timpano
Teresa Timpano, City of Poughkeepsie, died at home surrounded by family on Monday, May 28, 2012. Born on January 7, 1935 in Catanzaro, Italy, she was the daughter of Salvatore and Cecilia Sita' Ferragina. Teresa was the fifth of seven children. A Poughkeepsie resident for over 40 years, she came to American with her husband and children in 1970. Teresa was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother, to whom family meant everything. She worked at Nicky Lou Factory and Western Printing, but is best remembered as a NYS Certified home day care provider for over 25 years where she was affectionately known as "Zia". Her greatest joy was to be in the kitchen cooking for family and friends. She was a member of Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church in Poughkeepsie. On April 12, 1964, in Catanzaro, Italy, she married Francesco Timpano, who predeceased her on December 7, 2006. Teresa is survived by her four children, Francesca and Mark Bouffard, of Pawling, Rita McPeck, Stefania Timpano and Agostino Timpano, all of Poughkeepsie; grandchildren Robert, Jacob and Luke Bouffard and Kayleigh and Cecilia McPeck. She is also survived by her brother, Salvatore Ferragina of Italy, several nieces and nephews, and good friends, Robert and Jacqueline Sullen and their children Deanna and Dylan and Scott and Stacey Langenthal and their daughter Marissa. She was predeceased by her parents, five siblings and her beloved son-in-law, Michael McPeck. Calling hours will be Wednesday, May 30, 2012 from 4 to 8 pm at the Timothy P. Doyle Funeral Home, Inc., 371 Hooker Avenue, Poughkeepsie, NY. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:00 am on Thursday, May 31, 2012 at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church, Poughkeepsie, NY. Burial will follow at St. Peter's Cemetery. Memorial donations may be made to the National Shrine of Saint Rita of Cascia, 1166 S. Broad Street, Philadelphia, PA 19146.
