Obituary of Oskar Fink
Oskar Theodor Fink, 97, passed away June 8, 2012 at home surrounded by his family in Lagrangeville , NY. He was born January 25, 1915 in Seiferts, Germany and was the son of Joseph and Justina Weber Fink. On October 12, 1952 he married Emma Egert in Poughkeepsie, NY. They were married 44 years. She predeceased him on June 28, 1996. He came to America in 1948 as an argricultural student and was sponsored by Frank Brothers Farm. He learned to shear sheep at a very young age while he was in Germany and continued with that in America. He had the opportunity to shear sheep on the Captain Kangaroo show, Lady Bird Johnston and also did many demonstrations including the Dutchess County Fair. Oskar was a machinist at Shatz Federal Bearing until his retirement in 1981. He was a member of St. Columbia Church and was the eldest member of Germania. He is survived by his daughter and son-in-law Madeline and James Grey of Poughkeepsie; son and daughter-in-law Stephen and Maureen Fink of LaGrangeville; granddaughter Erin Peters and husband Thomas; grandchildren Erika Grey, Bridget Fink, Keely Fink, Evan Grey; great-grandchildren Aryanna & Logan Peters. His brother Stefan Fink and wife Hedwig; and sister-in-law Elfriede Fink survive in Germany among many nieces and nephews. His sister and six brothers predeceased him. Donations can be made to Germania of Poughkeepsie, NY 12603. A Mass of Christian Burial be held10am, Saturday June 16, 2012 at Blessed Kateri Church Route 82 LaGrangeville New York. Burial will be private and at the convenience of the family. The family asks that everyone join them after mass at 11:30am at Germania Hall 37 Old Degarmo Road Poughkeepsie New York.Funeral arrangements are being handled by the Timothy P.
