Obituary of Robert Edmonds
Robert I." Bob" Edmonds, Sr., 73, of Pleasant Valley, NY died at home on Wednesday, June 13, 2012. A lifelong resident, he was born in Poughkeepsie, NY on August 10, 1938 to the late Harvey and Rose Decker Edmonds. Predeceased by his father at a young age, his mother was then remarried to Edgar Leroy Palen. Bob was educated in Hyde Park Schools. On September 15, 1957, he married Marilynn E. Whispell at St. Paul's Episcopal Church in Poughkeepsie and she survives at home. He had worked as a Tank Driver /Oil Burner Technician for Love Oil for 38 years, retiring in 2001. Bob was an avid Giants fan and he loved to hunt, go four wheeling, his motor cycles and loved to camp with his family. He was a member of the Ti Yogi Bowmen Archery Club in Hyde Park, NY. In addition to his wife who survives at home, Bob is survived by his children and their spouses: Cheryl Anne and Ed Sheehan of Pleasant Valley, Sandy and Jim Duffy of Pleasant Valley, Bobbi Lynne Edmonds and boyfriend Rob Storms of Poughkeepsie, and Robert "RJ" and Patty Edmonds, Jr., of Stanfordville. Also surviving are his grandchildren Mark and his wife Jenny Sheehan, Daniel Sheehan, Jimmy Duffy, Mike Duffy, Danielle Albrecht, David Albrecht, Heather Merrill and Leah Merrill. Additionally he is survived by his brother Fred Edmonds and his sisters Geraldine Conn and Wanda Secor and many nieces and nephews. Bob was predeceased by a daughter Marilynn Edmonds, his mother Rose, father Harvey, stepfather Edgar, brothers and sisters, Anna Molt, Harvey Edmonds, Charles Edmonds, Joseph Edmonds, John Edmonds, Gail DeLucca and Sheila Palen. Calling hours will be held on Friday, June 15, 2012 from 3:00 - 7:00pm at the Timothy P. Doyle Funeral Home, Inc., 371 Hooker Ave., Poughkeepsie, NY. A graveside service will be held Saturday, June 16, 2012 at 11:00am at Union Cemetery.
