Obituary of Dimitrios Sassos

Dimitrios "Jimmy" Sassos, 90, of Poughkeepsie, NY died Saturday, August 25, 2012 at the Renaissance Nursing Home in Hyde Park, NY. Born in Kauala, Greece on September 14, 1921, Jimmy was the son of the late Panagiotis and Martha Frangkopoulos Sassos. In 1968 he came to America and in 1969 opened Texas Lunch in Poughkeepsie, NY. After Texas Lunch he opened and maintained many successful businesses. He had a great love for his wife, Alexandra Sassos, who predeceased him. Jimmy was a loving husband, father and grandfather who brought joy to all that knew him. He was also known for his sharp dressing and humor. Jimmy is survived by his sons and their wives, Peter and Nicole Sassos and Paul and Katerina Sassos. In addition he is survived by his grandchildren Alexandra Doxey and her husband Michael, Connie Sassos-Isakadis and her husband Daffy and Demetrios "Jimmy" Sassos and Maria Sassos. Also surviving are his great-grandchildren Michael Doxey, Ariana Doxey and Nikoletta Isakadis. Calling hours will be held on Wednesday, August 29, 2012 from 6:00 - 8:00pm at the Timothy P. Doyle Funeral Home, Inc., 371 Hooker Avenue, Poughkeepsie, NY 12603. Burial will take place at a later date in Greece.
