Obituary of Nancy Van Etten

Nancy M. Van Etten, age 77, of Poughkeepsie, died Friday, August 24, 2012 at Vassar Brothers Medical Center in Poughkeepsie, NY. Mrs. Van Etten was born February 26, 1935 in Poughkeepsie, NY. She was the daughter of the late Fred and the late Adeline (Foote) Mackey. She married Edward F. Van Etten on October 13, 1956 in Poughkeepsie, New York. She was predeceased by her husband, Edward F. Van Etten, he died in July of 2010. Nancy was a graduate of Vassar Hospital School of Nursing. She was employed by Vassar Brothers Medical Center as a Registered Nurse and also worked as a Nurse doing private care. Nancy was a member of First Congregational United Church of Christ in Poughkeepsie, New York. She was a member of the Vassar Hospital Registered Nurses Alumni. She loved to travel especially to her homes in Lake George and Myrtle Beach She is survived by ; two sisters: Jane Wardel of Homosassa, FL, Elizabeth Budd of Poughkeepsie, NY; her close friends Emma Tate and her husband James of Hyde Park, NY; her dear friend Vicki Vamudio of Beacon; many nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews and many close friends at the Legends.Nancy was predeceased by her husband, parents and a brother Fred Mackey. A special thanks goes out to the staff of the 5th floor Oncology Unit at Vassar Brothers Medical Center and also to Hospice, for the care that was given to Nancy. A graveside service will be held 11:00 am on Friday, September 7, 2012 at Poughkeepsie Rural Cemetery, 342 South Ave., Poughkeepsie, NY with Pastor Heather Moody officiating. Burial will be in Poughkeepsie Rural Cemetery, Poughkeepsie on Saturday, August 25 at .. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Hospice Foundation, 374 Violet Ave., Poughkeepsie, NY 12601.
