Obituary of Melody Adams

Melody Faith Swartz Adams passed away peacefully at home on Monday, September 24th, 2012. Loving wife to Simon John Adams and caring mother to Shawn Palmer, James Adams, and Angela Adams, Melody will be missed by all whose lives she touched. She was grandmother to Brooklyn and Jonah Palmer, sister to Elizabeth Swartz Mizell, Godmother to David Zwissler, aunt to Stephen Dow, Wenonah Dow Imdorf, Jill Swartz Leete, Eric Swartz, Betsy Swartz Incorvaia, and Gary Swartz. Melody was predeceased by her parents, Samuel Swartz and Doris Hardinge Swartz, her Sister Kathleen Swartz Zwissler, her brother Kenneth Swartz, her nieces Kimberly Zwissler DiNonno and Christa Zwissler-Burley, and her nephew Todd Swartz. Born in Poughkeepsie, Melody grew up in Dutchess County and always took full advantage of all that the beautiful Hudson Valley has to offer. From having her kids skip school to go fishing in Wappingers Creek to planning day trips at Bash Bish Falls to exploring Bannerman Island, Melody never lacked ideas for a great day out. She worked with her sister, Kathy, for many years as a talented Floral Designer at Adams Fairacre Farms. She later retired to spend more time with her family, and especially with her adoring husband and best friend, John. Melody's free spirit, sense of adventure, and zest for life were an inspiration to everyone around her. Her love for gardening and nature were a true reflection of her inner and outer beauty. Aunt Melody's place was a common destination among her nieces and nephews for sleep-ins and fun. She was amazed by all of life's mysteries and went to any extreme imagined to ensure that everyone had a life filled with spontaneity, excitement, and above all, love for one another. Close friends and family will be received for a Memorial Celebration at Locust Grove, 2683 South Road, Poughkeepsie from 5 to 9pm on Monday, October 1st.
