Obituary of William Webster
William J. Webster Sr., age 97, of Poughkeepsie, died Sunday, September 30, 2012 at The Pines in Poughkeepsie. William was born September 20, 1915 in Poughkeepsie, NY. He is the son of the late Ira and Bertha (Rubal) Webster.
He was a native of Poughkeepsie and member of Holy Trinity Catholic Church. He worked building the aqueducts serving NYC, on the Mid-Hudson railroad bridge, as a lineman for Central Hudson, finally retiring after 33 years from DeLaval working as a coded welder.
Bill Webster, as known by many friends and acquaintances, was an honest, hardworking and generous man. His love was fishing and hunting and he was a lifetime member of the Mid-Hudson Rod and Gun Club. He was also the best Dad two children could ask for. We shall all miss him very much.
He is survived by daughter: Linda Webster-Alvarez of Poughkeepsie, NY; son and daughter-in-law, William Jr. and Cathy Webster of Poughkeepsie, NY; niece, Gail Laffin of Poughkeepsie, NY; nephew, Russell Williams of Poughkeepsie, NY; grandchildren, Jayne Mercer, Brandy Webster and Adam Konzen; great grandchildren, Adriana Beebe, Emma Whalon and Levi Baker. William was predeceased by former wife and mother of his children, Sally (Green) Gray; sister, Mary A. Williams and his nephew, Donald DeGarmo.
Calling Hours will take place Sunday October 21, 2012 from 2pm to 6pm at the Timothy P. Doyle Funeral Home 371 Hooker Ave. Poughkeepsie, New York 12603.
The funeral will be held 10:00 am on Monday, October 22, 2012 at the Funeral Home. Burial will follow with Military Honors at St. Peters Cemetery, 171 Salt Point Turnpike Poughkeepsie, NY.
