Obituary of Sara Amerson

Sara Amerson, 87, of Poughkeepsie, NY died Saturday, October 20, 2012 at St. Francis Hospital. Sara was born on January 27, 1925 in Pittsburg, PA to the late James T. and Leana Jones Sparrow. A local resident since 1976, she had previously lived in Washington, DC, West Palm, FL and Bronx, NY. Sara worked as a House Manager for Vassar College from June, 1977 until December, 1990. She had also worked in the local area supporting families, retiring in 2007. Sara married Louis Lebron and he predeceased her. She loved to travel and loved to talk up a storm, she was always telling stories. Sara had also worked for Robert and Ethel Kennedy. Sara is survived by her son and daughter-in-law Rolando Michael Amerson and his wife Corena, of Washington, DC, granddaughter Dr. Afriye Amerson of NJ, grandson Mowando Amerson of VA, great-granddaughter Kamaria Amerson of DC, daughter-in-law Bernida Thompson of DC, her son-in-law Charles Brooks of DC, grandson Kenneth Brooks of NJ, granddaughter Darcy Pontes of MA, great-granddaughters Olivia and Sidney Pontes of MA, daughter Demby Hendrix of OH, grandson Dolphus Hendrix, Jr., of OH, her great-granddaughter Khyra Hendrix of OH and her great-great grandchildren Karee Makalia Hendrix, Devon Kyaire Hendrix and Darien Marcell Hendrix all of OH, great-granddaughter Keyara Hendrix of OH, grandson Derek Hendrix of OH, granddaughter DeNeia Johnson of MD, great-granddaughter Madison Johnson of MD, great-grandson Myles Johnson of MD, her daughter Beverly Amerson of NC, her daughter Sardo Lebron of NY and Eric Vokes her adoptive grandson of NY and her grandson Thomas Brennan of NY. In addition to her husband, Sara was predeceased by her son-in-law Dolphus Hendrix and her daughter Vendear Brooks. Meet and greet the family will be held on Saturday, November 3, 2012 from 9:00-10:00am at the Timothy P. Doyle Funeral Home, Inc., 371 Hooker Ave., Poughkeepsie, NY 12603 followed by a service which will be held at 10:00am during this visitation. Burial will be at the convenience of the family.
