Obituary of Marie Coyne

Marie A. Coyne, 67, of LaGrange, passed away on December 27, 2012 at home after a courageous battle with liver cancer. Born April 6, 1945 in Independence, MO, she was the daughter of Waino and Elsie (Rahja) Hatinen and sister of Wayne Hatinen who all preceded her in death. Surviving is her love husband of 38 years Kevin Coyne, children Thomas Coyne of Las Vegas, Christine Coyne of LaGrange and her sister Evelyn "Evie" and Rudy Koski of Duluth, MN. She is also survived by two nephews Donald Koski of Dallas, TX and Doug Koski and family of Chisholm, MN. Cousins Carol and Jerry Hicks of White Bear, MN and daughters, and four male cousins in MN, MA and CT. Marie spent her childhood in Cloquet, MN and on the family farm in Esko, MN. She graduated high school in 1963 as class salutatorian. She graduated from University of Minnesota, Duluth with a teaching degree in 1967. She moved to Newburgh, NY in 1971 to begin teaching and married Kevin in 1974. She was very active within her church community at Freedom Plains United Presbyterian Church in LaGrange, including volunteering with Mission Committee. She taught nursery school at the church for 20 years and then worked at the LaGrange library for many years coordinating community programs. Through these several activities and her long time residence in Pleasant Valley, she developed many close personal friendships. Family and friends may call at the Timothy P. Doyle Funeral Home, Inc., 371 Hooker Ave., Poughkeepsie, NY 12603 from 2 - 6pm on Monday, December 31, 2012. A memorial service will be held on Saturday, January 12, 2013 at 10:00am at the Freedom Plains United Presbyterian Church, LaGrange. Lunch will follow.
