Obituary of George Zocchi

George Mario Zocchi entered into rest on February 23, 2013 surrounded by his family. George was born on November 24, 1927 in Tuckahoe, New York, to Guiseppe and Assunta Zocchi. On January 29, 1950, George Married Mildred DeEsso, the love of his life. Mildred predeceased George on May 12, 2012. George was the owner of George's Grocery Store in Pleasant Valley and George's Supermarket in the New Hackensack Plaza. When George was a child he was painted by Norman Rockwell, selling Newspapers at the Crestwood Train Station in Tuckahoe, New York. George is survived by his son, Stephen Zocchi and his wife Darcy, daughter Susan Apa and her husband Ralph, granddaughter Karen Ademic and her husband John, grandson Matthew Zocchi, great grandchildren Madison and Dylan Zocchi. Also surviving are his sisters, Jessica Huestis, Yoland Springer, brothers, Val, Rudy, Ernie Zocchi, numerous nieces and nephews and grand dog Buddy. George was predeceased by his infant son, Peter Gerard, two sisters Mary Ludovici, Julia Zocchi and his two brothers, John Zocchi and Clisi Zocchi. Calling hours will be held Wednesday February 27, 2013 from 4pm to 8pm at the Timothy P. Doyle Funeral Home 371 Hooker Ave. Poughkeepsie, New York 12603. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held 10am Thursday February 28, 2013 at Saint Stanislaus Kostka Church Pleasant Valley, New York 12569. Burial will follow at St. Peters Cemetery Poughkeepsie, New York. George's family would like to thank the Pine's of Poughkeepsie and especially the staff of the 6th floor for the love, caring and devotion they provided to our father and grandfather during his time there and also a thank you to Hospice for the special care they provided during his final days.
