Obituary of Gerald Thurmann

Gerald W. Thurmann, age 81, of Poughkeepsie, died Wednesday, February 27, 2013 at St. Francis Hospital in Poughkeepsie, NY. Gerry was born August 12, 1931 in Racine, Wisconsin. He is the son of the late Anders and the late Elizabeth (Beekner) Thurmann. He married Kathleen Hennessey on June 15, 1963 at Holy Trinity Church Poughkeepsie, New York He was a retired employee of the American Museum Of Natural History as a Oceanographer Research Tech. Gerry loved to fish, play cards with his friends and enjoyed to read and do cross word Puzzles. He is survived by his wife: Kathleen(Hennessey) Thurmann of Poughkeepsie, NY, daughter and son In-law, Kerry and Jerry Leary of Brooklyn, NY; Grandson, Rory Patrick Leary of Brooklyn, NY and his Granddaughter, Alana Nora Leary of Brooklyn, NY. Gerry was predeceased by his brother, Kenneth Thurmann. A Mass of Christian burial will be held 10:00 am on Monday, March 4, 2013 at Holy Trinity Church, 775 Main Street, Poughkeepsie, NY. Burial will be private and at the convenience of the family. Calling hours will be Sunday, March 3, 2013 from 4pm to 7pm at Timothy P. Doyle Funeral Home Inc., 371 Hooker Ave., Poughkeepsie, NY.
