Obituary of Evelyn Darling

Evelyn L. Darling, age 79, of Pleasant Valley, died Sunday, February 24, 2013 at Martin Memorial Hospital in Stuart, FLA. Evelyn was born November 29, 1933 in Kingston, NY. She is the daughter of the late Delbert Clifford and the late Harriet Irene (True) Reeder. She married Leo J. Darling on July 24, 1955 at Arlington Reform Church. She was predeceased by her husband, Leo J. Darling on December 22, 2010. She was a retired employee of Boces Of Dutchess County Poughkeepsie where she was a Registered Nurse. Evelyn was a graduated of Arlington High School Class of 1951, she started her career in Nursing at Vassar Brothers Hospital School of Nursing graduating in 1954. Evelyn was a member of Vassar Brothers Hospital Alumni, Member of the Town of Poughkeepsie Club 60 and the Arlington High School Alumni Association. Evelyn's life was devoted to her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren and she will be dearly missed by all who's life she touched. She started her career in Nursing at Vassar Brothers Hospital and retired from BOCES. She is survived by one daughter: Karen DeFraia of Pleasant Valley, NY; Son and Daughter In-law, Gary J. And Cheryl Darling of Pine Plains, NY; Daughter and Son In-law, Shari and Peter Schwarze of Poughkeepsie, NY and Daughter and Son In-law, Kathi and Michael Miller of Pleasant Valley, NY. Evelyn is also survived byher eight grandchildren whom she adored; Jason and his wife Jenna Darling, Erik Darling, Anthony and his wife Kelly DeFraia, Danielle DeFraia, Kelli Schwarze, Ryan Schwarze, Courtney Miller, Scott Miller, two great granddaughters Olivia Evelyn DeFraia, Emma Lynn Darling, sister and brother inlaw Dolores and John Michaloski, sister inlaws Lois Gibson, Doris and her husband Homer Rikert and her brother inlaw and sister inlaw Dean and Suzanne Darling, plus several nieces and nephews. The funeral will be held 10:00 am on Saturday, March 2, 2013 at Timothy P. Doyle Funeral Home Inc., 371 Hooker Ave., Poughkeepsie, NY. Burial will follow at the Poughkeepsie Rural Cemetery, Poughkeepsie, New York. Calling hours will be Friday, March 1, 2013 from 4pm to 8pm at Timothy P. Doyle Funeral Home Inc., 371 Hooker Ave., Poughkeepsie, NY.
