Obituary of Roger M. Breault
Roger M. Breault, 68, a longtime resident of Poughkeepsie, NY passed away on March 26, 2013 at his home.
Roger was born in Palmer, MA and was the son of Elida ("Mim") and Clarence Breault. He grew up with his five siblings and graduated Cathedral High School in Springfield, MA.
In 1971, he married Janet Dubyel and they moved to Poughkeepsie, NY where he owned and operated Roger's Exxon in nearby Red Oaks Mill, NY. Roger was a long time active member of Holy Trinity Church.
His three children were his pride and joy, and shared his love of sports with them. Roger was a diehard New York Giants and Boston Red Sox fan and would travel with the family to Boston for games. He was very involved with his kids' extracurricular sports, serving as a Little League Baseball coach, CYO Basketball coach, and baseball/softball umpire for over 30 years. In 1995 he was inducted into the New York State American Softball Association Hall of fame as an umpire.
Roger treasured visits from his children and grandchildren, who affectionately referred to him as "Papa". He also enjoyed attending family reunions every Christmas. He loved spending time with Teresa Breault, who was always by his side and held a special place in his heart for the last 23 years. Most recently, in 2011, he was able to attend his daughter's wedding and proudly escort her down the aisle and partake in a memorable father daughter dance.
He is survived by his three beloved children: son Jared Breault and wife Amy of Pelham, NH; son Timothy Breault and wife Kimberly of Huntersville, NC; and daughter Jessica Sinchak and husband John of Milford, CT. Survivors also include siblings Celeste Batchelder and husband Cary of Torrington, CT; Clarence Breault of Middletown, NY; Eugene Breault of Belfast, NY; Margaret Day and husband Frank of Belmont NY; and Diane Norris and husband Shayne of Hyde Park. His six granddaughters include Addison, Alexis, Kate, Nora, Sara, and Andrea.
Very special to Roger was Frank Hinkley, who was Roger's best friend and caretaker for several years and was an integral part of our family.
Calling hours will be from 5pm-8pm on Monday April 1st at Timothy P. Doyle Funeral home in Poughkeepsie. A Catholic mass will be celebrated at Holy Trinity Church in Poughkeepsie at 10am Tuesday April 2nd.
