Obituary of Helen Daniels
Helen R. Daniels, 104, passed away peacefully at home on Thursday, April 11, 2013 with her youngest son Charlie, primary caregiver, by her side. Helen touched the hearts of everyone she came into contact with. She was a loving wife to her husband, Alfred, who predeceased her in 1998 at the age of 90. A lifetime Poughkeepsie resident, she attended local schools, graduating from New Paltz Normal School with a teaching degree and thereafter taught elementary school for twenty-three years while raising four sons with loving care. She was the youngest daughter of Mary Hogan (nee McKenna) and John Joseph Hogan and was predeceased by her siblings John and Mary Hogan. Helen enjoyed her flower gardens, her bird watching and cheering on the NY Yankees. Helen is survived by her children Dr. Alfred Daniels, MD, and his wife Dr. Charlene Pope, PhD. of McClellanville, SC, their daughter Anica and her husband Zak Cantley of Mount Pleasant, SC, Jenny of Rochester, NY and Lia of Ann Arbor, MI; her son John Daniels and his wife Fran of Poughkeepsie and their sons Adrian of Richmond, VA and Christian of Los Angeles, CA; son Paul Daniels of Williamsport, PA and his wife Renee of Tucson, AZ and their son Noah and his wife Karinne Knutsen of Monticello, Utah, daughter Nora Zoe and her husband Tad Woolridge, also of Tucson, AZ and daughter Hannah of Tucson, AZ. A mass will be held at St. Stanislaus Church in Pleasant Valley, NY on Saturday, April 20, 2013 at 10:00am. In lieu of flowers, donations in Helen's name may be made to Hospice of Dutchess County, 374 Violet Ave., Hyde Park, NY 12538. "To know her was to love her". There will be a private burial ceremony at St. Peter's Cemetery, Salt Point Turnpike, at the convenience of the family. Arrangements are under the direction of the Timothy P.
