Obituary of June Lysko

June J. Lysko, a resident of the Town of Lagrange for over forty-five years, peacefully passed away on June 4, 2013 at Vassar Brothers Medical Center. She was 80 years old. Born on July 20, 1932 in Poughkeepsie NY, June was the daughter of Cora and Claire Rutter. After graduating from Arlington High School, she proceeded to marry John Lysko on June 24, 1950 at the age of 18. In the following years, June became a dedicated mother of six and continuously cared for her family in a variety of different ways; she was an avid Girl Scout leader as well as the president of the Parent Teacher Association at Overlook Primary School, participating in these extracurricular activities to further indulge herself in the lives of her children. All the while, June's primary occupation was that of a bookkeeper for many local businesses, including Lucky Platt, Pittsburgh Paint, and Avello Brothers Contractors, all of which she thoroughly enjoyed. In 1990, June retired, gaining the opportunity to experience the luxuries that life has to offer. She became extremely fond of traveling the world, taking numerous cruises abroad and spending many of the winter months in either Florida or Maui alongside her loving husband. At her home in Lagrange, June became enamored with the act of rescuing and caring for many feral cats living nearby. She was also very passionate about bird watching and identifying as many individual species as possible and not a day went by without her enjoying the challenge of completing the Poughkeepsie Journal's daily crossword puzzle. Above all, June relished in the company of her loved ones and always put them before herself. Her gracious characteristics and joyful personality are what have made her a beloved wife, mother, and grandmother. She will be missed dearly, always loved, and never forgotten. June Lysko was predeceased by her eldest son John Lysko Jr. She is survived by her daughter Deborah Hoch and her two children Sarah Hoch and Joshua Hoch, her son David Lysko, his wife Traci Lysko and their two children Nichole Lysko and Kathyrn Lysko, her daughter Elizabeth Avello and her two children Alexandra Avello and Avery Avello, her daughter Laurie Flynn, her husband Patrick Flynn and their son Jonathan Flynn, and her daughter Christine King, her husband James King, and their daughter Hannah King. Visitation will be held on Sunday, June 9, 2013 from 4:00 pm to 8:00 pm at the Timothy P. Doyle Funeral Home, located at 371 Hooker Avenue in Poughkeepsie, NY. Funeral Services will be held Monday, June 10, 2013 at 10:00 am at Saint Mary's Catholic Church, located at 231 Church Street in Poughkeepsie, NY.
