Obituary of Marion Whalen

Marion J. Whalen, age 74, died Tuesday, August 27, 2013 at home in Modena. Marion was born March 6, 1939 in Poughkeepsie, NY. She is the daughter of the late Sidney and the late Gertrude (Ladjinski) Gleason. She married Joseph S. Whalen on March 29, 1959 at St. Joseph's Church in Poughkeepsie, New York. She was predeceased by her husband, Joseph S. Whalen on Sept 10, 2000. She was employed by the New York Telephone Company. Marion was a member of Member of the New York Telephone Pioneers, she also worked at the FDR Museum and gift Shoppe. Marion liked to cook, and loved her pets, She is survived by four daughters: Stephanie and Ray Burns of Williston, VT, Colleen Whalen of Poughkeepsie, NY, Tara Whalen and Mike Russell of Modena, NY; Kathleen and Kenny Whittaker of Kingston, NY, her brother: Craig Gleason of Macalla, AL; Grandchildren, Justin, Thomas and wife Jelena and Amanda Cianchetta of VT; Kyle Burns of VT; Tyler Whalen of Keller, TX; Shane Minard of Poughkeepsie, NY; Brittney Minard of Lagrangeville, NY; Matthew and Hannah Whalen of Modena, NY; and Great-grandson, Bradley Whalen Miller of Lagrangeville, NY. Marion was predeceased by her brother Sidney Gleason. A graveside service will be held on Friday August 30, 2013 at 12pm St. Peters Cemetery, Salt Point Turnpike, Poughkeepsie, NY.. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Dutchess County Outreach North Hamilton Street and the DCASPCA Violet Ave. Hyde Park, NY 12538. Funeral arrangements are being handled by the Timothy P.
