Obituary of Brian McMahon
Brian Francis McMahon, 72, of Dagsboro, DE, passed away peacefully on September 17, 2013 surrounded by his loving family. A former resident of Rockland County, Brian was born in Queens, NY on February 17, 1941 to Francis and Helen Powers McMahon. On April 20, 1963 he married Veronica A. Bailey in Bedford, England. She survives at home. Brian received a Bachelor of Science degree from Mercy College. He served in the US Air Force before becoming a Police Officer and working for 20 years with the NYPD. He retired as NYPD Detective Sergeant. Brian was a member of the Rockland County Shields, the 44 Forever Club. He loved to travel and see the world and was an avid reader and World War II buff. In addition to his wife, Brian is survived by his daughter and son-in-law Kerry & Greg O'Gorman of Poughkeepsie, NY; son and daughter-in-law Tim and Daura McMahon of Lopatcong, NJ; daughter Kelly McMahon and John Gibson of Poughkeepsie, NY; grandchildren Andrew, Logan, and Bailey O'Gorman and Matthew and Meghan McMahon; sisters Eileen (Frank) Kealty of Hopewell Junction, NY and Erin Riebesehl of Pearl River, NY and several nieces and nephews. Brian was predeceased by his brother In-law Harry Riebesehl and his nephew Bill Riebesehl. Memorial donations may be made to the Lehigh Valley Hospital Hackerman-Patz House, 2100 Mack Blvd., PO Box 4000, Allentown, PA 18105 or to Wounded Warriors, PO Box 758517, Topeka, KS 66675. Calling hours will be held on Sunday, September 22, 2013 from 4 to 8pm at Timothy P. Doyle Funeral Home, Inc., 371 Hooker Ave., Poughkeepsie, NY 12603. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Monday, September 23, 2013 at 11:30am at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church in Poughkeepsie. Burial will be private and at the convenience of the family.
