Obituary of Mark Surico

Mark C. (Zeke) Surico, 53, a lifetime resident of Poughkeepsie was called to his final resting place on December 21, 2013 after a long, courageous battle against cancer. He will truly be missed by all who knew him. Born on July 2, 1960, he was the son of the late Matteo Surico and Cathy Burt Surico White. Mark was a graduate of Roosevelt High School and was employed by IBM in East Fishkill. In 1991 he became the proprietor of Murphy's Flower Shop in Poughkeepsie and most recently was employed by the Poughkeepsie Children's Home. He was a lifelong member of the Elks BPOE #275and Sons of the American Legion.What Zeke most enjoyed was spending time with his friends, especially hosting his annual Labor Day party, his crossword puzzles and Jumble Puzzles. Zeke also loved golfing and cooking. He leaves behind his devoted mother, Catherine White, his sons Mark, Jr. and Nelson, his loving fiancé Carol Poillucci, his brother Matteo A. Surico, Jr. of Poughkeepsie, brother and sister-in-law Wayne J. and Kathleen Surico of Poughkeepsie, his sister and brother-in-law Sally Ann and Michael McGlade of South Carolina and his brother and sister-in-law Allen B. and Victoria Surico of Hillsboro, Oregon, as well as many nieces, nephews and friends. Zeke was predeceased by his father, his brothers William J. and Rocco Surico and his stepfather William White. The Family would like to extend their heartfelt gratitude to St. Francis Hospital, especially the staff on the 6th Floor. Calling hours will be held on Friday, December 27, 2013 from 3 - 8pm at the Timothy P. Doyle Funeral Home, 371 Hooker Ave., Poughkeepsie, NY 12603. The Funeral Service will be held on Saturday, December 28, 2013 at 10:00am in the funeral home. Burial will follow in Poughkeepsie Rural Cemetery.
