Obituary of Friedrich Oldenburg

Friedrich C. Oldenburg, 73, of Virginia Beach and formerly of Poughkeepsie, NY died Sunday, January 12, 2014. Born on June 4, 1940 in New Rochelle, NY, Fred was the son of the late Friedrich and Lillian Pagan Oldenburg. He was a graduate of Arlington High School in 1958 and then served in the US Air Force from 1958-1964. Fred worked as a Branch Manager for the Hudson Valley Federal Credit Union, retiring in 1997 and relocating to Virginia Beach. Fred loved to golf and was a member of the American Legion #1302. Fred is survived by his sisters Margaret Traver of Hopewell, Betty Lou Cifone of Poughkeepsie, Dora Randolph of Hyde Park, Edith Hatch and her husband Joe of Hyde Park and Helen Thompkins and her husband George of Staatsburg, as well as his two brothers William of Burlington, NC and Henry and his wife Debby of Southport, NC. In addition, he is survived by 21 nieces and nephews and several great and great-great nieces and nephews. Calling hours will be held on Saturday, January 18, 2014 from 10:00am - 12:00noon at the Timothy P. Doyle Funeral Home, Inc., 371 Hooker Ave., Poughkeepsie, NY 12603. The Funeral Service with Military Honors will be held at 12:00noon following visitation in the funeral home. Burial is private and at the convenience of the family.
