I am so sorry for the loss of your father. I wish I could have made it last night to the wake, but did not see the paper until late last night. Whenever I ran into your dad, he would remember me and stop to say hi. He was a great spirit here on earth and will be watching over all of you with your mom. He loved all of you and would talk about you whenever we met up. God Bless you through this difficult time.

I'm so sorry for your loss of your father and grandfather. May the love of those around you and the precious memories of his life help you through the days ahead. We look forward to the day when the pain and suffering of death will be no more, and we are reunited with our loved ones. (Revelation 21:3,4; John 5:28, 29)

I can't count the many times that we would be out to eat and after a few drinks Mr. Frank would look up and ask the waitress Do you think it would be ok to take my plane up with the straightest face Usually they would just look down and not know what to say We would just all laugh. Mr Frank You can take your plane up now to the loving arms of our father and your to your bear.

I had only known Frank for only a couple of months from working at the Days Inn. He was a great man. He welcomed me to the staff and treated my husband and I very kindly at our Christmas gathering. He was very outgoing and funny. It was unfortunate that I have known him for only a short time. My husband and I send prayers of strength for all his family, friends & loved ones on this day to help you all get through this tough time.

I was very lucky to have gotten to know this special man. I will never forget your warm hugs. Your good morning greetings up in Old Forge before a day of adventures in the Adirondacks. I will miss the good times we had during my Xmas visits. Toasting to a glass of red with jokes ofcourse expressing how "expensive"it was. Looking forward to receiving the stuffed toy easter bunny. He was a special man that I will never forget and will always keep these special moments close to my heart. May you rest in peace. Love always,Tammy

For as long as i can pretty much remember, Frank, or as i have always called him "Mr. Burke" was always a part of my life. For those who know me, I have been best friends with his youngest daughter Sharon, since we were 5. If you do the math, that's 35 years. Growing up, what i loved most about the Burke household and Mr. Burke, was that it was an open door policy, and it swung one way. It was magnetic. No matter how hard you tried, everyone always gathered at that house. I might have thought it was because they had unlimited chips ahoy and oreo cookies in my younger years, but i realize now , it was because it was a place where everyone was accepted, and you could really be yourself. Most of all it was a place of love.
Mr. Burke was always there, to pick us up from Edwards where we worked in High School, to tell a joke (which i often didn't really get), to tell us the Pope had called for us,(ironic b/c i am Jewish) and when we got older to drink some red wine! In recent years i had the priveledge of spending 2 weekends in Old Forge with the Burke clan, and i know Frank reveled in his family being all together in one place for a magical weekend. I always joke with Shar, "why do we do the same exact restaurants and rituals" every time we are there"- cant we deviate from the plan"? But i now realize, the rituals were the constants in the family and those weekends were the few moments he had with his entire family in tow.
What i loved most about Mr. Burke was that he always had a smile on his face, was always telling his silly jokes and stories and was happy go lucky 99% of the time! And he loved being the center of attention- no wonder i liked him! (lol). I dont think there was a single time that i ever came over during the years that he didn't ask how my parents were or later on how my own family was. He was the epitome of a family man, and he lived for his family. A family i saw grow over the years and with each addition- brought a new personality to the Burke clan. Though all were different, they all shared the same "spunk" as Frank in so many ways. It brought him such great joy to see his kids grow and blossom, and then his grand kids and great grandkids and he was always there for each and everyone of them in any way he possibly could. Frank found pure joy in the art of "giving" and whether it was giving to his family, or aiding his wife Louise through her illness, or helping complete strangers who were in need of it- Frank was there. If a person could be rich by the amount of people that loved him, Frank would have been a millionaire.
This is obviously a sad time for all, but we can be comforted to know that we were fortunate enough to know a man like Frank, someone who we know in some shape or form, made our lives better, made us laugh, made us frown our brow in confusion (lol) and touched our lives in a way we will never forget. You can't be best friends with someone for 35 years unless they come from a good place, have a good moral compass and are a compassionate person and Sharon and her siblings- Linda, Mary and John- embody all those wonderful qualities b/c they had such wonderful role models like their parents to emulate from. They were lucky to come from the salt of the earth- Mr. and Mrs. Burke.
Mr. Burke/Frank -you will truly, truly be missed, but we will keep your memories alive in all your silly stories and your beloved teddy bears!!!!
-Love Always,
Debbie
