Obituary of Virginia Kreuter
Beloved wife and mother; Virginia raised five children in Richmond Hill Queens, NY with her husband Quentin T. Kreuter who predeceased her in 1984. They were devoted to each other, always so much in love. Virginia is predeceased by 2 of her loving children, Jane and Robert, who she joins in heaven. Born in a brownstone in Brooklyn in 1921 Virginia and her identical twin sister Gloria (deceased) were so tiny they were incubated in the kitchen oven.
Along with balancing the needs of a busy household, Virginia held several career positions in healthcare and later the garment industry. Virginia was an active church member in Trinity United Methodist Church for over 50 years, serving in the choir, as Sunday School Superintendent, Church Missions, and various church committees including the United Methodist Women. Virginia was well versed in Bible scripture which she shared joyfully with all. Virginia loved to travel, loved the theatre and anything "Broadway", and was an avid reader and cat lover. "Ginny" had a spirit for life that was appreciated by all who came to know her. Virginia also baked the best crumb cake in the world!
She is survived by daughter Margaret Slomin and husband/son-in-law Lawrence, son Quentin, son David and wife/daughter-in-law Awilda, son-in-law Bruce Hopper, grandchildren Joanne, Emily, Elizabeth, Adam, Ben, Paul and Clare, and great grandson Robert David. We would like to thank all of the staff at Elant at Fishkill, our second family, for their loving care to Virginia. In lieu of flowers please consider donations to Poughkeepsie United Methodist Church at 2381 New Hackensack Road, Poughkeepsie, N.Y. 12603 for their wonderful mission work.
