Obituary of Nancy Sherow

Nancy H. Sherow, 81, long time resident of Poughkeepsie passed away on February 3, 2014 at Vassar Brothers Medical Center surrounded by her loving family. Born on July 19, 1932 she was the daughter of the late Lester and Anna (wicker) Sutton. Nancy was a graduate of F.D. Roosevelt High School in Hyde Park, where she played basketball and was honored years later by being inducted into F.D.R. Sports Hall of Fame. She also enjoyed cooking, playing bingo, and was an avid Knicks fan. Nancy was married to William D. Sherow who survives at home. She is survived by her children, Stephanie Jezsu and husband Dan of Staatsburg, N.Y., a daughter Darnell Sherow Cross of Pleasant Valley, N.Y., a son William Sherow Jr. of Poughkeepsie, N.Y., and son Kief and wife Gwen of Harrisburg, Pa. A sister Eleanor Moran of Surprise, Az., a sister Joann Plass of Poughkeepsie, and a brother Lester Sutton who is predeceased her. Nancy is also survived by 10 grandchildren, 7 great-grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews. There are no calling hours. A private memorial service will be held for the family.
