Obituary of Hugo Fueglein
Hugo G. Fueglein, 89, longtime resident of Poughkeepsie since 1953 passed into a peaceful eternal sleep on March 5 at his home with dignity and bravery after a long and courageous battle with congestive heart failure.
Hugo Fueglein was born in Gerolzhofen, Germany January 2, 1925 and was the son of Valentin and Margareta Fueglein. He was educated in Germany and in 1947 married Veronika Breunig with whom he has shared the past 66 beautiful years. After 25 years, he retired from IBM in 1990. He has been a member of Germania Singing Society of Poughkeepsie since 1953 and was honored in 2013 for being a fifty-year member of the North American Sangerbundt. He was a member of the Germania Almrausch for many years. Hugo also found pleasure in singing with the Golden Age Singers from 1997 until 2012. He loved to sing, dance, travel, and play golf, but most of all he loved his family and his home.
In addition to his loving wife and partner Veronika, he is survived by his daughter Roswitha Mongillo and husband Peter of Stamford Connecticut and his son Hugo V. Fueglein and wife Sally Ann, of Stamford Connecticut, his grandson Hugo V. Fueglein, Jr. of Stamford, CT, and his step grandchildren Nicole Siciliano of Boston Massachusetts, Kala Siciliano of Stamford Connecticut, Brian Mongillo of Stamford Connecticut, and Colleen Mongillo of New York, New York.
He has been a parishioner of Holy Trinity Church since 1965. Calling hours will be Tuesday, March 11 from 4 PM to 8 PM at the Timothy P.Doyle Funeral Home, 371 Hooker Ave. in Poughkeepsie. A mass of Christian burial will be held at Holy Trinity Church a 10 AM Wednesday, March 12. Entombment in the mausoleum will follow in St. Peter's Cemetery.
