Obituary of Ralph Stortini

Ralph J. Stortini 89 of Pleasant Valley, New York died March 27, 2014 at home surrounded by his family. Born January 18, 1925 in Poughkeepsie, New York, he was the son of Pasquale and Annucita Orso Stortini. Ralph was a local resident all his life and a graduate of Poughkeepsie High School and a member of Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Church. Ralph served in the United Navy from 1943 to 1946. On February 3, 1969 in Kent, CT Ralph married Marcia Knox, she survives at home. Ralph was a District Manager for Tilo Industries and was a Police Officer for the City of Poughkeepsie Police Department. Ralph loved to work around his yard, loved to read and do crossword puzzles and also enjoyed boxing. He loved his dog very mocha very much and was an avid Yankees Fan. Ralph was a member of the Poughkeepsie Elks # 275, Italian Center, Rogers Point Boat Club, Mt. Carmels Sportsmen Association and the Poughkeepsie PAL. Ralph is survived by his wife, Marcia Stortini of Pleasant Valley, NY., his children Stephanie Decker of Poughkeepsie, Tracey Swartz of Jacksonville, NC., Steven Dewey and his wife Jan of Salt Point, Alison Schmidt of Hudson, Fla., Robin Kilmer of Clinton Corners, Lisa Stortini of Hyde Park, Melissa Dyal and her husband Andrew of Lagrangeville, brother Marcelino Stortini of Poughkeepsie, sister Yolonda Shue of NC, brother Pasquale Stortini of Delray Beach, Fla, cousin Anthony Stortini of Poughkeepsie, 18 grandchildren, 13 great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. Ralph was predeceased by his daughter Nanci Stortini in 1968, his brother Louis Stortini and his cousin Joseph Stortini. Calling hours will be held on Wednesday April 2, 2014 from 4pm to 7pm at the Timothy P. Doyle Funeral Home 371 Hooker Ave. Poughkeepsie, New York 12603. Funeral services will be held 10am Thursday April 3, 2014 in the Funeral Home with burial to follow at St. Peters Cemetery Salt Point Turnpike Poughkeepsie, NY.
