Obituary of Gertrude McGrath

Gertrude Elizabeth McGrath 94 of the Town of LaGrange died March 26, 2014 at Vassar Brothers Medical Center in Poughkeepsie, New York. Born November 23, 1919 in New Milford , CT, she was the daughter of Ralph and Ida Wenderoth Coons. Gertrude has been a local resident since 1949. She was a Bookkeeper at the New Milford Bank. On November 30, 1949 she married Jack P. McGrath, he predeceased her on May 30, 1996. Gertrude was a member of Holy Trinity Church, she loved to golf, play cards and do crossword puzzels. Gertrude is survived by a daughter Susan McGrath of Wappingers Falls; grandson Sean Casey Murphy of LaGrange; sister Marian Page of New Milford, CT; brother Alan Coons and several nieces and nephews. Gertrude was also predeceased by her son Robert McGrath and her sister and brother Helen Hahndorf and Ralph Coons. Calling hours will be held Monday March 31, 2014 from 5pm to 8pm at the Timothy P. Doyle Funeral Home 371 Hooker Ave. Poughkeepsie, New York 12603. Funeral Services will be held Tuesday 10 am in the Funeral Home with burial to follow at St. Peters Cemetery Salt Point Turnpike Poughkeepsie, New York.
