Obituary of Marguerite Barksdale Wright

Marguerite " Sis " Barksdale Wright, age 71, of Poughkeepsie, died Friday, June 6, 2014 at Vassar Brothers Medical Center Poughkeepsie, NY. Marguerite was born December 2, 1942 in Beacon, NY. She is the daughter late Ethel (Barksdale) . She married Ronald Wright who predeceased her. She was employed as a LPN briefly at Hudson River Psychiatric Center then went on to do private duty nursing. Marguerite moved from Beacon, NY to Poughkeepsie in 1967. She was a graduate of Hudson High School and Dutchess Community College. Marguerite attended Jehovah Witness Kingdom Hall, was an avid Pittsburgh Steelers and Boston Celtic Fan. She enjoyed going fishing and going to bingo and spending time with her extended family and friends. Marguerite was known by all as " Ma " or " Graya " She is survived by son and daughter In-law, George and April Wright Jr of Elmira, NY; sons: Kevin Wright of Poughkeepsie, NY, Philip Wright of Poughkeepsie, NY; daughter and son In-law, Faith and Demond Brown Sr. of Poughkeepsie, NY; daughters: Tatia Barksdale of Poughkeepsie, NY, Jacinta Barksdale of Poughkeepsie, NY; sister Melody Barksdale of Kingston, NY; brothers: David Barksdale of Poughkeepsie, NY, Sterling Barksdale of Poughkeepsie, NY and brother and sister In-law, Roger and Martha Barksdale of Waterbury, CT. Marguerite is also survived by her great granddaughter who she raised Jaleeza Hill, 13 grandchildren, 8 great grandchildren and several nieces, nephews, cousins and many friends. Marguerite was predceased by her husband Ronald Wright, her mother Ethel Barksdale, grandmother Mary Barksdale, sister Arlene Wimberty, brother William Barksdale and grandson Gage Reavey. Calling hours will be Friday, June 13, 2014 from 1pm to 2pm at Timothy P. Doyle Funeral Home Inc., 371 Hooker Ave., Poughkeepsie, NY. The funeral will follow the calling hour at 2:00 pm.
