Obituary of Mark Scott
Mark A. Scott, age 52, of Rhinebeck, New York , died Saturday, June 21, 2014 at home surrounded by his family, after a courageous battle with brain cancer. Mark was born April 3, 1962 at St. Luke's Hospital in Newburgh, NY. He is the son of Jack and Charlotte (Rute) Scott. He married Lynda Whitney on September 16, 1990 at St. Peter's Church Poughkeepsie.
Mark was a local resident all his life. He was employed by IBM Poughkeepsie as a Software Engineer. Mark was a graduate of Roosevelt High School class of 1980 and a graduate with a Master's Degree in computer science from Marist College.
was a member of Poughkeepsie Elks #275 and was a coach for many years with the Town of Hyde Park Little League, Hyde Park Pop Warner and the Regina Coeli CYO Basketball League.
Mark loved Aikido, Basketball and Golf. He was an avid JETS fan and loved to spend time at the Sacandaga Lake, camping in the Adirondacks and traveling with his family. But the most important thing was that he loved watching his son's participation in sports.
He is survived by his wife: Lynda(Whitney) Scott of Rhinebeck, NY. ; his three son's Brandon of Rhinebeck, Ryan of Albany and Mark Jr. of Rhinebeck. Mark is also survived by his father Jack and mother Charlotte (Rute) Scott of Hyde Park; brother Jack Scott of Hyde Park, sister Terry MacBrien and her husband Lou of Poughkeepsie, brother Timothy Scott and his wife Sue of Salt Point, mother in-law and father in-law Ethel and Richard Whitney of Hyde Park, brother in-law's Wayne Whitney of Hyde Park, Glenn Whitney of Tivoli, sister in-law Donna Lambert of Tennessee and many nieces, nephews.
Calling hours will be Tuesday, June 24, 2014 from 4pm to 8pm at Timothy P. Doyle Funeral Home Inc., 371 Hooker Ave., Poughkeepsie, NY.
A Mass of the Celebration of Life will be held 10:00 am on Wednesday, June 25, 2014 at St. Margaret's Episcopal Church, Old Post Road, Staatsburg, NY. Burial will be in Union Cemetery, Hyde Park following the services.
